1. To get better music. High quality music often takes a backseat to music that can be easily mass marketed for maximum profit. By supporting high quality Independent Artists you'll help bring a lot more great music to the masses.

2. To provide fair access. Access to performance and promotion outlets is blocked by the exorbitant cost of mass media. Even the reduced costs of alternative media still involves significant financial investments.

3. To provide equal opportunity. Because of market research that continually suggests mass music sales are strongest in pre-teen and teen age groups, there is, in effect an "age discrimination" when it comes to getting support for older artists.

4. To give great artists a fighting chance. At UMO we see so many great artists who spend their lives perfecting their music for others to enjoy. In the meantime, their efforts go unnoticed because promotional outlets are clogged with so many "flavor-of-the-month" artists. Your support helps get promotional access for experienced artists.

5. To get what you're already paying for. In the end you may say, "It doesn't really matter since I don't buy music anymore". Ah, but you do. Most people don't realize that almost everything they buy includes a cost to pay for music that's broadcast on radio, TV, in-store sound systems and other media. The royalty costs for "public" music gets factored into almost everything you buy. Manufacturers and service companies who advertise don't pay for music directly. However, the radio and TV stations who do, add it into the price of commercials and advertisers pass it on to you when you buy their products. So, in effect you are buying music "whether you like the music or not".
