So what’s a girl who grew up in Queens doing hammering out alternative country rock anthems? Easy. Why does anybody who lives in a city get into country music? How about the honesty, the feeling, the stories, the songs about stuff that really happens, the energy? How about Lori Behrman?Whether she’s playing on her own, with nothing to hide behind but her guitar, or fronting her hot country-rock combo, this girl brings home the goods. And she doesn’t have to shout. Under all that country-fueled cooking, Lori Behrman is a perceptive, quiet singer. That’s what gets you. In fact, that’s what gets everybody. Lori attributes her inspiration to beginning her career as a songwriter, as well as her conversion from rock and roll urbanite to country believer, to her discovery of Lucinda Williams. And you know what kind of trouble that can get a girl into. Lori then quickly got into the likes of Steve Earle, Kim Richey, and Mary Chapin Carpenter. As she puts it, "In 1998, I wrote ‘Same Old Wall’, just to see if I could. Then came ‘Trouble at My Front Door’ and after that the floodgates were open." Asked to name her favorite songwriting topics, she answers simply, "The Holy Trinity - love, lust and loss, mainly my own." Right now, she’s playing all over her home town, building a loyal fan base with a heavy urban gumbo of her own mini-novels stirred in with soulful covers of her heroes. Hitting joints like Kenny’s Castaways, Mickey’s Blue Room, Three Jolly Pigeons and Otto’s Shrunken Head with crowd-pleasing regularity. If you want to know what it sounds like, check out her self-titled EP (available at http://www.CDBABY.com/Behrman) or, better, come check her out in person and see what it looks like too.FOR MORE INFORMATION CONTACT: CHERYL PRASHKER MANAGEMENT (917) 445-3315 OR LORI BEHRMAN: ALTCNTRY@UMO.COM -----------------
