Musicians, Singers & Bands - UMO Showcase / Open Mike
Guidelines – Please Read!
The Purpose of the UMO Sunday Afternoon Showcase & Open
Mic
To provide a supportive and professional environment in which
Singers, Songwriters, Musicians and Bands can perform live music in front of an
audience, promote their gigs, or sell their CD’s.
In order to accomplish this goal, please observe the following ;
- All music must be "live".
Performers may not use
pre-recorded music, synthesized or pre-recorded vocals, drum machines, midi,
or any other type of backup that is not being performed live.
- If you wish to sing or play an Open Mike Set, print your name
"clearly" on the next available line of the Sign-up Sheet and it
will be announced exactly as written. Showcase Sets are available to
UMO "Best of" and Major Label Artists only, and must be scheduled
with the UMO Representative at the show.
- When your name is called please go to the stage as quickly as possible
.
Before your name is called, make sure your instrument is tuned. (Note:
If you are not ready to go on stage when your name is called, your name will
be scratched and you will have to sign up again if you wish to play.) Once
your set is over, please leave the stage as quickly as possible. After you’ve
left the stage you may sign-up again for another set (if there is time
available).
- If you wish to sing or play with a particular musician
on-stage,
please check with that musician beforehand. Please do not get on the stage
with musicians who have not invited you to do so.
While on stage, performers should refrain from pre-song
monologues or excessively long jams that might prevent others from getting a
chance to play before time runs out.
You are welcome to promote your upcoming shows, CD’s and mailing list. Feel
free to make a "brief" announcement at the end of your set to promote
your upcoming shows (held at any clubs), sell your CD’s, or to promote
your mailing list. (UMO Music is not employed by The Baggot Inn).
As a courtesy to other musicians who are performing on stage please observe
the following;
- All Instruments MUST remain in their cases
until it is your turn to
go on stage or until you go to the club’s main entrance to tune your
guitar.
B. Do not play your instrument or rehearse your singing anywhere
in the club. However, you may use the space provided near the club’s
main entrance for "quietly tuning" your instrument.
C. Remember, this is a "Performer’s Showcase & Open
Mike" not a jam session. We ask that you not add harmonies, sing
loudly, or play instruments during another musician’s performance unless
specifically invited to do so by the performer currently
on-stage. Adding unwanted parts to a performance prevents the
artist from having their music heard as they intended. If you feel you can add
something to the musician’s performance, please see item #4.
D. Please refrain from talking loudly in the music area while artists
are performing. You are welcome to socialize in the Bar Area.
Thank You From All Our Singers,
Songwriters, Musicians and Bands
